Bright Blossoms Candy Pocket

I really like the Summer Smooches Suite. Each of the items in it is so much fun to play with. The candy pocket below is just one example. As some of you know, a few of my friends and I have started a ministry working with our wounded warriors. My beautician gave one of them who was spending the weekend at my home a free beauty make over. So, this will be her thank you gift.

Zebra Joy Fold Card

A group of my friends and I go to the Warrior and Family Support Center to teach card making to our wounded warriors and their families. The Zebra card was one I designed especially for them. How much fun it was to make this card. It is another card that can go to a male or female of almost any age. The Joy Fold technique just gives it that little something extra.

Masculine Your My Type Card

I have a friend whose son is deployed in Afghanistan and has requested that when I teach a class I add some masculine cards. So, this one is for her.

The base is Soft Suede card stock cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4". The first layer is Baja Breeze cardstock cut at 3 3/4" x 5". The second layer is Very Vanilla, which was cut at 3 1.4" x 4 1/2" This layer was stamped with the A to Z stamp in soft suede ink. Linen Thread was wrapped around it several times and then tied in a knot. The type writer and sentiment, from the Your My Type stamp set, were stamped onto Very Vanilla and then cut out. Paper Doily Ballerina

I made this card for my friend Sue,because she and I have been known to dance in the front yard for my toddler grandson. It just cracks him up. The neighbors probably get a chuckle too as they look at two grannies dancing as they hum their own tune. The card base is Pool Party cut at 41/4" and scored at 51/2". The ballerina's circular border was cut from the outside edge of the doily. Her skirt was half of the inner circle of the doily. Her bodice,and feet were made with the Heart to Heart punch, The arms were made with large oval punch. The face,hair, and legs were hand cut. Her body was made fromBlushing Bride. Glimmer paper was used for the bodice, shoes,and earrings. The hair was cut from a scrap of Early Espresso. The banner was stamped from the Take It To Heart stamp set. Happiness form the Loving Thoughts set was stamped onto the banner and then it was cut out and adhered below the ballerina. The background of the ballerina's circle is Whisper White card stock that has been embossed with Perfect Polka Dots folder.

Skunk Candy Box

When I saw Danee Hoang's skunk on line I just had to try it. I am not sure that I used all of the same punches, but I think I got close. I then made a box that would hold two nuggets and attached the skunk to it.

Cut a piece of 3" x 5" Basic Black card stock. Place it on the Scoring Tool so that the 5" side is horizontal to the top ruler. Score at 1", 1 1/2", 3", 3 1/2". Turn the paper so that the 3" side is horizontal to the top ruler. Score at 1/2" and 2 1/2". Fold on crease lines using a bone folder or ruler edge, Cut off the side tabs on each side of the 1" x 2" rectangle and those of the small rectangle above it. Cut out the small side tabs between the two larger rectangles. You will be cutting up to the long score lines, but not past them. Punch out the following items: 1 black ornament, 3 of the second smallest petals from the petal punch in black., 3 of the smallest petals in the petal punch in white, 1 of the second smallest petals in white, 1 of the second largest petals in white, 1 –white 2” oval, 1 Pink Itty Bitty Circle, 1 colored Itty Bitty blossom, 1 black word window punch (Cut in half), 2 medium blossoms from the Boho Punch. Using a heart punch or the “Fashionable Heart” embosslit die cut a heart. Assemble skunk as shown in photo. Attach eyes and add small pearl to flower. Do not attach the tail until you hve glued the box together. Use sticky strip to attach box together. Do not close the box until you insert candy nuggets. Attach tail to the back of the box with a glue dot and add a small pearl to the center of the flower. Use glue dots to attach the 2 blossoms from the Boho Punch as feet to the bottom of the box. Mini Card & Envelope

Hear is the second project we did Saturday. This may have been the biggest success. Most of the ladies made multiples. The scallop envelope die makes this such an easy project that it just take a few minutes to make a variety of envelopes. The card with its color coordinated envelope is great to put on gifts, in lunch boxes, on desks, etc. and give a loved one a special surprise.

Mini Card and Envelope Use the “Scallop Envelope Die” to cut a piece of Designer Series Paper. Fold the resulting piece of paper on the fold lines to form an envelope. Attach small pieces of sticky strip to the bottom of the side folds. Make sure that the tape does not cover an area that will not be covered by the bottom flap. Also, make sure that the tape does not pass the inside edges of the side flap. Fold up the bottom flap of the envelope so that it will adhere to the sticky strip. Set the envelope aside. Score a piece of 4 x3 Whisper White cardstock to form a card base measuring 3 x 2 . Stamp a focal image and sentiment onto the white card stock measuring 1 5/8 x 2 5/8. Use pencils, markers, or ink pads and blender pens to color the image. Center and attach white cardstock to colored cardstock measuring 1 7/8 x 2 7/8. Place matted focal image in an embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot as directed. Center and attached embossed rectangle to the front of the card base.

Heart Framelit Card

I am so sorry if you were not able to come to our Stampin'Up event on Friday or Saturday. Friday 6 of us gathered to work on our scrapbooks. I love this time because you get to draw closer to your friends and are able to make new ones. The really dedicated scrappers stayed up into the wee hours. Then Saturday 16 of us gathered to make three projects. Several of you "regulars" really wanted to come, but just couldn't make it this time. So, as promised, I am putting the instructions here so you can make the projects at home. If the instructions are not clear and you have a question just e-mail or call me. I will upload 1 project a day through Tuesday.

This photo just doesn't do the card justice, because you cannot see the embossed stripes which give the card a rich look. Here are the instructions: All measurements are in inches. Cut a piece of Real Red card stock 4 1/4 x 11 and score at 5 1/2. Rub the embossing buddy across the front of your card base. Stamp the heart from the “You Are Loved” stamp set with VersaMark ink in the upper middle of the card front. Pour black embossing powder over the image and then remove it by pouring it onto a sheet of folded paper. Return the left over powder into its jar. Heat set the image on the card with the heat gun. Dry emboss the front of the card by placing it into the Stripes embossing folder and placing it on the Big Shot platform as directed. Place the heart template on top of the folder so the open heart is centered over the heat embossed heart that is on the card front. Place an acrylic plate over the centered template and run it through the Big Shot.5. Place sheet of 4x4 Basic Black card stock over two heart Framellits that have been temporarily adhered the an acrylic plate with Dotto. One heart is placed inside the other to form a heart frame when cut. Place the second acrylic block on top of the paper and run it through the Big Shot as directed. Remove the black heart and its frame. It helps to use a piercing tool to lift the edge of the paper so that it may be picked up more easily. Attach the heart frame over the embossed heart on the card by using dimensionals Using the instructions in steps 1 &2, heat emboss the love tag found in the “You Are Loved” stamp set. Use the 1 3/4 oval punch to punch out “love”. Cut 9” inches of black ribbon adhere around the bottom of the card using snail or other glue tape. Use glue dot to attach the oval “love” tag to the right side of the card.

Getting Ready for Regional

Tomorrow is the day. Four of my friends and I will head to San Antonio to attend Regional. It will be our first large Stampin'Up event. I just thought I would show you what I am taking for "SWAPS".

Thank goodness this was simple and didn't take a lot of time. I just used the Top Note Die and cut out the front and back cover from the blue DSP Paisley Petal and chip board. Then it was just a matter of cutting out the inside pages in Whisper White and stamping those pages with stamps from the set "Notes & Details". The Crop-A-Dile was able to chop a whole through all

of the material at one time. Then I used a loose leaf ring to hold the pages together. The final touch was to add some bows and my business card, which I created with My Digital Studio.

Paper Flower Boquet

It amazes me what you can do with paper! With a little spritz here and a twist there you can turn plain card stock into a flowers

I made this boquet for my daughter's birthday. Only four colors of cardstock were used : Very Vanille, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum and Soft Suede. ..

Christmas Card Extravaganza - Day 3

Today the Cards for Christ group met and made more cards for our Christams sale. What an amazing group of ladies. Here are a couple more cards for you.

I modified this punch art and turned it into a giftcard holder. I forgot to take a photo of the back, which isn't as cute as the front, but is still pretty good. That is where I made most of the changes You need the following: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie & Whisper White card stock, the Top Note die,an office punch, the 1/2 inch circle and the 1 3/4" scallop punches, a jeweled brad, and 1/2" scallop dot cherry cobbler ribbon .

Mary Fish showed how to do a double Z fold card on her web site. This gave me the idea for this card. I think the angel from the "Angelic Joy" stamp set (2010 Holiday Mini) has found the perfect home.

I couldn't resist Sandi McIver's easel card using "Snow Much Fun". I did make a few cahnges by leaving off a bow and adding a punched label so people could sign the card.

Christmas Card Extravaganza - Day 1

It is hard to believe that is has been so long since I have posted anything. Life just overtook me for a while. SO, to make up for not posting I am going to show you multiple cards/projects for the next couple of days. Some are originals and others are cards I saw online and fell in love with.

Card #1

This a a slight variation of a card that I saw sometime in the past. I am sorry I cannot remeber the name of the original creator..

I loved making this card, because it is so simple. The only thing is that it drives some people crazy when they are making it, because I used 1/8" measurements. On some cutter designs it is difficult to find some of the measurements.

Faithbooking Psalm 139: 9-10

A couple of years back I became very ill and I began to think about all of those things I always intended to do, but had put off. One of my greatest worries was that I had not told my children how great God is. So, I decided to make a Faith Book to witness to a loving God who never abandons us.
